Job Description:

We are accepting applications for hosts and hostesses to join our dining room staff at Syberg's on Gravois. This position is responsible greeting and welcoming all guests with a smile and a pleasant attitude; seating guests; monitoring the open dining sections of the restaurant for empty and cleaned tables; estimating wait times for guests; monitoring the guest waiting list; moving tables together to accommodate large parties; and ensuring that the needs of the guests are met while they are waiting. The host/hostess is also responsible for answering the telephone, fulfilling reservation requests; assisting servers in providing the highest quality service, and performing all other responsibilities as directed by the business or as assigned by management. The host/hostess stocks the supplies of the host stand and completes light cleaning duties. The host/hostess may also take carryout orders for the restaurant, enter the orders, and accept payment where applicable.

Primary Responsibilities: To greet guests at the door in a warm and friendly manner. Seat guests, present menu, and place silverware on table.

Specific Functions and Duties:
Greets and seats guests, presents menus to guests, informs them of special catch and soups.

  • All guests must be treated in a manner to ensure their complete satisfaction. Always strive to exceed our guests' expectations.
  • Take names on a waiting list and quote accurate wait times to guests
  • Keep the seating chart organized and
  • Observes tables and keep track of clean, dirty and occupied tables.
  • Takes guest information and quotes wait to guests accurately when tables are not immediately available.
  • Cleans, organizes and stocks menus at host area.
  • Answers phone and answers questions concerning the menu and restaurant.
  • Interacts with guests in and as they leave the restaurant to ensure positive dining experience.
  • Accurately take to-go order and bag food items
  • Maintain restrooms throughout shift.
  • Reading, writing, basic math and verbal communication skills required.
  • Mobility required during the entire shift.
  • Participates in the clearing and resetting of tables.
  • Sense of urgency required.
  • Teamwork: You will be working with other servers, bussers, bartenders and cooks to make a great dining experience. Being a team player is essential.
  • Other duties as needed.
